Labarthe is a delightfully secluded cottage and gite rental set amongst fields of sunflowers and vineyards, between the medieval bastide towns of Eymet and Issigeac in the beautiful Southern Dordogne region of France. There are frequent low cost flights into Bergerac (20 kms to the north) from Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Exeter, Manchester, Gatwick, Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool, Southampton and London Stansted as well as flights from Amsterdam and Brussels. Bordeaux is less than a 2 hour drive away. The channel ferry ports are approximately 8 hours by car. Situated just a few minutes drive from the market towns of Eymet and Issigeac, centuries old towns and close to many famous cultural and historic attractions of the area, you are assured of both a comfortable and tranquil holiday and lots of interesting sites to visit and things to do.
Labarthe consists of four properties (main house, cottage, pigeonnier and art studio/workshop) which surround a large gravelled central yard at the end of a 250 metre private drive way off of the D25 road to Eymet. The main house is occupied by the owners, Bryan and Anita Neal and they are available on site to provide help and assistance if required. The main house is not normally let out to visitors but does have two private large en suite guest rooms which can be rented as an adjunct to the Cottage or Pigeonnier if additional accommodation is required. All three principal properties have their own private sun terraces with table and chairs for alfresco dining and of course all have access to the large enclosed swimming pool in the delightfully kept mature 2 acres of gardens. The fenced and gated solar panel heated pool measures 12.5 metres x 5.5 metres, with spa type air/water massage jets into the steps and also has a solar shower and a covered pergola area for shade for those with sensitive skins.
Both Gites, the Cottage which sleeps up to 8 people and the Pigeonnier, sleeps 2, have been renovated to a very high standard and provide a relaxing and peaceful base for your Dordogne holiday. The gites are completely self-contained with fitted kitchens, fridge/freezers, cookers, microwaves etc., and are tastefully and thoughtfully furnished for your total comfort. Television, DVD and Video players, recreational games are all available for your enjoyment and if you are not familiar with the rules of petanque, lessons and boules can be provided if you want to play.
There are supermarkets, shops, bakeries and restaurants only a short drive away in the towns of Eymet, Issigeac, Castillonnes and Lauzun. The area itself is renowned for its fishing, canoeing, delighful countryside and historic buildings. It is an ideal location for walking, horseriding, fishing and cycling in peaceful surrounds. There is a superb 27 hole golf course 20 kms west at Chateau des Vigiers on the outskirts of Ste Foy la Grande and several other courses within easy driving distance including the delightful 18 hole course on the outskirts of Villeneuve du Lot to the south.
